The film presents stories, insights, and strategies from some of the cannabis industry’s strongest leaders. Along with the New Year and approved legalization in Vermont comes a strong wave of enthusiasm for cannabis. More directors, farmers, and innovators looking to enter the industry can stand to learn from these pioneers. This special screening is full of icons, who share their tips for success.
Preceding the screening, a Hemp Showcase, including local cannabis companies and educational opportunities, takes place from 4pm-6pm at Maglianero Cafe in Burlington. Meet President and Co-Founder of Elmore Mountain Therapeutics, Ashley Reynolds, along with other local women of weed, and see for yourself what Vermont’s Cannabis Industry has to offer.
Director and Producer Windy Borman created this film to examine the connections between the green revolution to end cannabis prohibition and Big Pharma, social justice issues like the prison industrial complex, and environmental sustainability.
Borman reveals that cannabis is not only a booming industry, but one being led by innovative, bright, and devoted women. “Puffragettes™” (think Pot + Suffragette), as Borman calls these women, are becoming the face of this rapidly-growing industry. The featured film includes a powerful interview from Grammy® Award-winning singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge and other empowering entrepreneurs.
“From farms to labs to dispensaries and beyond, the film sheds light on the female researchers and entrepreneurs blazing a trail in today’s legal cannabis industry. From interviews with scientists, doctors, lawyers, activists, growers and bakers, I learned cannabis is not only an industry, but also a movement of dedicated, pioneering women,” says Director Windy Borman.
