As we are well aware here at Elmore Mountain Therapeutics®, more than 1 in 7 US adults now use CBD for one reason or another. Not only are people buying CBD for themselves, but they are also looking out for family members with various ailments and oftentimes gifting CBD!

Hands down, CBD oil or CBD tinctures are the most popular CBD products available. Whether you want to offer guiding advice as you gift CBD oil or you just need some guidance for yourself, EMT is here to help!

Let’s First Discuss How to Take CBD Oil

CBD oil is really easy to take because it comes in liquid form. You can simply place your premeasured CBD dose on your tongue and swallow it or (our recommended approach) place the oil under your tongue and hold it there for ~30 seconds to allow it to absorb into your system a bit faster. Those who may have a sensitive stomach or simply do not like the taste choose to take their CBD oil with food or with a drink of water. You can also add the oil to your favorite smoothie!

Next: How Long Will It Take CBD Oil to Kick In?

CBD oil taken sublingually (under the tongue) does kick in a bit faster than simply swallowing it; you may feel the effects in as little as 15 minutes sublingually and it may take up to an hour or more to feel the effects when swallowed. Of course, a number of factors can affect how long it takes for the CBD to be processed by your body, such as the potency of the CBD oil, your weight, your metabolism, and body chemistry.

Of Equal Importance: How Much CBD Oil Should You Take?

Numerous studies have been done to test the efficacy and safety profile of CBD. The majority of published studies have involved giving doses of anywhere from just 20mg to 1,500mg daily. However, the usual dosage plan to follow is to start with a lower dose and gradually increase how much CBD oil you take until you reach the desired effects. For instance, it can be a good idea to start with just 20mg-40mg of CBD-infused oil and work your way up in 5mg increments.

Because CBD has not been formally approved by the FDA, no set-in-stone dosing recommendations have been made. Just the same, pretty much all product manufacturers will offer a suggested dose. With our Full Spectrum CBD Hemp Extract, we recommend starting at 25mg.

What Will CBD Feel Like?

CBD does not make you feel high or disoriented. The cannabinoid is non-intoxicating. You may feel calm or more focused and you may feel relief in your muscles. CBD has been the topic of several research studies which aim to prove it’s use in assisting with an array of everyday ailments, such as anxiety, insomnia, and pain. Depending on the specific reason you are taking CBD oil, you may see somewhat immediate results or slow improvement. Every individual has a different experience with CBD, even when it comes to how it helps with certain issues. We know, this information is not hugely definitive, but that’s why more legitimate research into the cannabis plant is very necessary if we are to gain a deeper understanding of CBD and how it can benefit us!
